Hand block printed batiks are made using traditional wax-resist dyeing techniques; melted wax is applied to fabric using intricately carved wooden blocks. The fabric is then dyed, while the wax-covered areas resist the color and retain their original shade, creating distinctive batik patterns. After dyeing, the wax is removed in boiling water.

As with any hand made item, imperfections are to be expected and should be regarded as part of the charm of this piece.

Natural dyes may be unstable, consider taking dye setting measures. Gentle hand washing separately in cold water recommended. Avoid soaking. Expect some bleeding of excess dye during first wash. A handful of table salt in the first couple of washes may help set dyes.
