Folkwear - 124 Bolivian Milkmaid's Jacket - PDF and Printed Pattern
$21.25
This variant is currently sold out

These short jackets, worn by women of the Bolivian altiplano, are reminiscent of Spanish Conquistador, or colonizer, costumes. Our original is made in brightly colored velvet and trimmed with crystal beading and narrow braid, with close fitting lines and full sleeves. This sewing pattern includes three versions in two views. All have princess lines in the back, with full sleeves pleated into a slightly extended shoulder and into cuffs. The stitched-down pleats enhance the fitted look.
View A, unlined, has a V-neck and extends just to a band at the waist.
View B, lined, continues a few inches below the fitted waist. The traditional version of View B has a flared peplum formed by small triangles or godets set in each seam; without the godets, the jacket has a more contemporary, tailored finish.
Both views close in front with hooks and eyes, or you may use purchased frogs or looped buttons. Designs and instructions are included for optional traditional beading and decoration.
Misses 8-22.
