These tiny sewing boxes are designed and crafted with attention to detail and an eye towards gift giving. Each of these finely made boxes convey warm thoughts and wishes from the giver to the recipient. Palm-sized Paulownia wood boxes are crafted by Masuya, a company in Oita, founded in 1930. Inside the box top, there are mini Japanese scissors made in Niigata, which are attached by a magnet, and a tiny plum-shaped pincushion. Each box contains a pincushion made from Noto Futakoshi Chirimen fabric, which is threaded by hand. Chirimen textiles have been made in Japan since the 16th century. Boxes also contain one-touch needles from Hiroshima where have been making needles for over 300 years.

Traditional Japanese patterns, Mon'yƍ, have been used since ancient times. These patterns are not merely decorative; each carries its own meaning, symbolism, and wishes.

The Asanoha pattern signifies a wish of growing in good health. The Seigaiha signifies peaceful days.

Box dimensions are 2.25" x 1.25" x 7/8" / Contains two needles, thread snips, pincushion (polyester, attached to box), and two spools of thread (cotton, black and white).
